ABSTRACT
Denture stomatitis is one of the oral mucosa lesions which are frequently diagnosed and it is considered a congestive mucosal inflammatory process. The objective of this research was to describe the different etiologies of denture stomatitis, as this is the disease more often found in prosthodontic services. This injury is defined as an alteration of inflammatory type, which can degenerate into a hyperplasic lesion if not treated; it occurs in the mucosa supporting partially or fully toothless patients with movable dentures. Denture stomatitis is a disease having multifactorial etiology, where the risk factors such as age, allergic reactions to the material, infections provoked by Candida albicans and Staphylococcus aureus prevailed.
