ABSTRACT
Dengue is a virus-transmitted arbovirus type disease; it is caused by the direct inoculation of the virus by the bites of Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes, it has spread rapidly in all regions of Latin America. The objective of this search was to characterize the clinical and epidemiological features of dengue as a disease of the present times. There is no specific treatment for dengue and severe dengue, but early detection and access to adequate medical care reduce the mortality rates. Prevention and control of dengue rely exclusively on effective measures for the vector control, concluding that it is vitally important to use multiple resources in order to mitigate the mortality rate which is reaching substantial levels each year.
