ABSTRACT
The training of the nursing professional in Cuba, in accordance with the requirements that the New Pedagogical Model demands, requires the participation of the tutor. It needs a comprehensive system of improvement that includes methodological, pedagogical, psychological, economic, political and ideological preparation and leadership techniques that prepare them to achieve leadership and successfully carry out the functions inherent to their position to perform with efficiency and excellence in its work. The objective of this article is to reflect on the role of the professional improvement for the improvement of the performance of the tutor in the nursing career. The professional improvement of the tutor in the career of Nursing should be directed to the updating and systematic improvement that favors an integral training of the human resources and the improvement of their professional performance.
