Nursing care management and its contribution to the economy at Cabinda Provincial Hospital

ABSTRACT
Introduction: nursing care management is conducted to ensure the continuity of health services, and basically of its care as a response to the identification of unsatisfied needs, which must be of quality, therefore it is decided to contribute to the experience of the evaluation of this activity in a provincial hospital.Objective: to assess the management of nursing care based on the satisfaction of patients in the surgery service of Cabinda Provincial Hospital.
Method: a prospective and cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted in 2017 using the Avedis Donabedian Quality Assessment methodology application, including the results of the data. The target group was comprised of 22 patients admitted at the time of this study and the sample included 16 patients operated, as well as the head of the service. Eight criteria were included to determine de level of user’s satisfaction, considering the adequacy of the quality with the achievement of 80%.
Results: the nursing staff was distributed in two 12-hour work groups, and only five were Bachelors of Science in Nursing, as a result the technical competence was not the most satisfactory. Out of the 13 indicators evaluated, three were insufficient; it was recommended to assess the process in order to put into practice a program of continuous quality improvement.
Conclusions: in the assessment of the management of nursing care into the operating room, there were very important criteria to be modified, for which the resources of the nursing manager are needed in order to plan, organize and implement a safe, humanistic and social approach.
