Serum and intrafollicular expression of leptine concentration as a marker in the characteristics of ovocyte development

ABSTRACT
Objective: To determine the conditions of egg maturity and embryonic development serum and intrafollicular concentration of leptine.
Material and methods: Prospective and observational study. A total of 30 cycles of controlled ovarian hyperstimulation of IVF/ICSI procedures were included, where concentration of leptine in serum and intrafollicular fluid was measured. This measure was made from individual follicles during the egg retreival where fertilization characteristics were evaluated.
Results: During a controlled ovarian hyperstimulation cycle of 30 patients, divided in two groups of ages (‹ 35 y/o and › 35 y/o), there were no differences on base serum levels of FSH, LH and IMC by study design between groups. There exists a directly proportional relation between the high levels of serum estradiol and the quantity of fertilized ova in patients ‹ 35 y/o which respectively correlates with a lower concentration of leptine in day 3 of the menstrual cycle and day of application of hGC that demonstrated statistics significance (P‹ 0.05).
Conclusions: Patients › 35 y/o underwent ovarian hyperstimulation cycles, showed higher concentrations of serum and intrafollicular leptine related to a low concentration of estradiol, where this condition of intrafollicular contraregulation is expressed by a lower number of fertilized ova and reduction on ovum quality, possibly requiring a higher amount of r-FSH for its stimulation.
