ABSTRACT
Nowadays, the possibility of controlling many chronic diseases and the increasing of life expectancy has raised issues related to aging that require the attention of health professionals, caregivers and family members. Among these issues, emerges dementia (especially due to Alzheimer's disease), whose patients require constant care and become totally dependent on their caregivers. In this article, it is shown the need to provide support to caregivers and described the work developed by the Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Group, created in São Paulo, Brazil, ten years ago.
