ABSTRACT
Foreign body ingestion is a common reason for consultation in the emergency service. This can be related to several psychiatric, social, mechanical, anatomical and physiological factors. We present a patient with a foreign body lodged in the hypopharynx. Clinical manifestations were characterized by swallowing discomfort and stinging sensation. An image compatible with a foreign body lodged in upper aerodigestive tract was not observed during imaging tests; four months later, a thickening with a whitish spot was found in the left lateral region of the neck, from which a fish bone was extracted.
