Is wine beneficial or harmful for your health?

ABSTRACT
Introduction: high consumption of wine causes damages and benefits to oral and general health worldwide; however, these are little known.Objective: to argue the effects of wine consumption for health.
Methods: a bibliographical review of 26 articles was carried out; 18 of them correspond to the last 5 years.
Results: health damage is related to the content of alcohol, which is a factor that favours the appearance of cirrhosis, carcinomas, cardiovascular diseases and teeth stains. On the other hand, moderate and regular wine consumption decreases the risks of cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, diabetes, certain types of cancer, accumulation of dental bacterial plaque and the appearance of cavities, as well as, helps prevent oral infections.
Conclusions: this drink offers multiple benefits to oral and general health, but its excessive ingestion can be lethal for health.
