ABSTRACT
Erythema
elevatum diutinum is a rare and chronic skin disorder. Clinically is characterized by red, purple, brown or yelow papules, plaques or nodules. These lesions are usually symmetrically distributed on the extensor surfaces of the extremities. Histologically, early lesions of erythema elevatum diutinum show leukocytoclastic vasculitis. We present a case of erythema elevatum diutinum. This patient is a 67-year-old man with multiple pruritic lesions lasting several months. After laboratory studies (erythrocyte sedimentation rate, C-reactive protein, protein electrophoresis, serological test) and lesion biopsy, we confirmed the diagnosis of erythema elevatum diutinum. The patient was under follow-up with Oncohematology Service for a myelodysplastic syndrome.Treatment was established with dapsone but its evolution was discussed by adverse reactions, causing severe anemia so that other treatments were established. The clinical, histological, epidemiological and associated characteristics of the process were reviewed.
