ABSTRACT
Introduction: Oxidative stress occupies more and more the interest of scientists worldwide because these processes are involved in many of the diseases of greatest incidence, such as: cancer, cerebrovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus, among others. It is necessary to establish the local reference intervals to perform laboratory investigations on this issue. Objective: To standardize the reference values of some parameters of oxidative stress, its use in the evaluation of some diseases and in healthy personnel.
Results: The parameters evaluated differ to a certain degree, although not significantly, from the reference values of other centers, and in some cases they also use imported diagnostic kits. In general, lower mean values than those used up to now were obtained.
Conclusions: Reference values were standardized in arkers of oxidative stress, both in healthy subjects and in patients with hypertension and diabetes mellitus.
