Background: Helicobacter Pylori infection is the main cause of gastroduodenal ulcer disease. Objective: to determine the usefulness of Helicobacter Pyloriserological diagnosis in patients with gastroduodenal ulcer.
Methods: a longitudinal, prospective, analytical study was carried out with the purpose of describing the serological diagnosis of Helicobacter Pylori in patients with gastroduodenal ulcer at the Manuel Ascunce Domenech hospital from July 1st, 2015 to July 31st, 2016. The universe of study that consisted of 104 patients diagnosed with gastroduodenal ulcer who met the inclusion criteria. A survey of all patients was conducted which was validated by expert criteria. For the implementation of the study, communication with the patients was established aimed at ensuring their participation in this research, which was validated through informed consent.
Results: in the research there was a high incidence of Helicobacter Pylori infection in the age group from 40-49 years. The majority of infected patients were female. In the cases studied, the clinical manifestations that predominated were: epigastrium pain and dyspepsia.
Conclusions: the usefulness of serological diagnosis is due to the fact that this noninvasive technique for detecting the antibody against Helicobacter Pylori infection is highly sensitive, showing values of 0,93 and a low specificity with values of 0,05.
