ABSTRACT
Chronic subdural hematoma is a common entity among elderly patients after suffering a minimal trauma or receiving anticoagulant therapy; people with congenital or acquired clotting disorders can also suffer an acute or chronic subdural hematoma. We present an 81-year-old female patient in which, in addition to the absence of previous trauma or use of anticoagulants, the presence of Alzheimer’s disease made the diagnosis more difficult. The patient began with insidious and progressive deterioration of consciousness and behavioral disorders that simulated an ischemic cerebrovascular disease; computerized axial tomography allowed us the correct diagnosis of chronic subdural hematoma.
