ABSTRACT
Introduction: intrauterine growth restriction refers to the incapacity of the fetus to achieve its prenatal growth potential. Objective: to determine the predictive capacity and optimal cut-off points of the complementary anthropometric markers for the early detection of intrauterine growth restriction.
Methods: retrospective study from October, 2012 to October, 2014 in pregnant women of adequate weight with simple pregnancies seen in the health area belonging to “Chiqui Gómez Lubián” University Policlinic of Santa Clara. Fetal and neonatal variables were studied; descriptive statistical techniques and receiver operating characteristic curves were used.
Results: restrictions of intrauterine growth in neonates of normal weight and large-for-gestationalage predominated. Predictive capacity of the complementary anthropometric markers showed its use for the early detection of intrauterine growth.
Conclusions: the proposed complementary anthropometric markers allowed us to detect changes in the rhythm of non-registrable fetal growth through the conventional markers used as a reference.
