ABSTRACT
Endometriosis is defined as an ectopic proliferation
of endometrial tissue outside the uterine cavity,
affecting between 4-50% of women of reproductive
age and causing pelvic pain and infertility in up to 50%
of these patients. Endometriosis of the appendicular
is uncommon and constitutes less than 1% of all
appendiceal pathologies that can simulate acute
appendicitis. is may present with acute or chronic
abdominal pain, the appendicular form is most of the
time asymptomatic, which makes the preoperative
diagnosis difficult. Laparoscopy is the diagnostic
procedure of choice and biopsy will confirm the entity
with the presence of endometrial glands and the stroma
infiltrating its muscle tissue.
