Behavior of the suicide attempt in Guantanamo province

ABSTRACT
Introduction: the suicidal attempt, also called parasuicide, suicide attempt, defined as that act without the result of death in which an individual harms himself. Objective: to describe the behavior of the suicide attempt in the Guantanamo municipality, in January-September 2016. Method: a descriptive study was carried out. The data were obtained by request from the Department of Statistics of the Provincial Health Center. The universe was 254 patients and a sample of 186 was selected through the simple random sample. The Microsoft Excel where the percentage was obtained according to the amount of data that were used to process the information, the results were presented in tables. Results: during the third trimester, the patient with the largest suicide attempt was the third one, the municipality that reported the most cases was Guantanamo, being the female with the highest incidence, ages between 25-59 years and the months of August and April respectively, the months with the highest number of patients registered were September, April and August, respectively. Conclusions: it is of vital importance to pay attention to the subject in question, giving more attention to young people, besides studying the causes of the incidences of the female sex that are adopting the position of attempting against their life.
