ABSTRACT
Objective. To describe a therapeutic alternative in patients with vascular access infection.Background. In Mexico, among the main causes of morbidity of patients with hemodialysis is anemic syndrome and infection of vascular access.
Case report. A patient with chronic renal disease with a history of infection of the vascular access (arteriovenous fistula) and anorectic dilatation that comes with access infection that does not accept dismantling of the access is presented.
Results. Vascular exploration and resection of the venous aneurysm were performed with terminal-terminus anastomosis, adequate post-surgical evolution and functional fistula.
Conclusions. Aneurysmal dilatation and infection are expected complications in patients with fistula greater than 5 years and without compression of this extremity favors such dilations. It is recommended to dismantle the AVF in cases of infection and to seek new vascular access.
