ABSTRACT
To determine the diagnostic validity of chest echogram as the only test for diagnosis of
post traumatic pneumothorax compared to chest computed tomography which is the gold
standard. A diagnostic, longitudinal, comparative study was performed with 32 patients
who were referred with a diagnosis of post-traumatic pneumothorax, mean age of 28.3 ± 8.5
years. Presence of absence of ecographic signs of pneumothorax was analyzed compared to
a chest computed tomography, finding 100% sensitivity and specificity for the presence of
A lines, and 93.7% sensitivity and 90.0% specificity for absence of lung sliding and B lines.
