The effectiveness in the management of organizations is understood as the degree to which the objectives are met, and it has a great relationship with the quality perceived by the users. That is why its correct identification and measurement should be a concern for all companies and organizations, especially in social sectors such as health, where the satisfaction of the needs of patients, family members and other interested parties is the maximum expression of success. The research aims to analyze what is known about the measurement of effectiveness in health organizations. In order to comply with the proposed objective, a literature search was carried out on the most recent studies conducted in Ibero-America regarding the measurement of efficacy in the health sector. In general, the complexity and integrality of the process of measuring health efficacy was recognized. The measurement of effectiveness should focus on indicators related to physical, mental and social well-being; what must be guaranteed by the planning systems of health organizations.
