ABSTRACT
Background: The gallbladder carcinoma is the fifth most frequent in gastrointestinal cancers, it represents only 1% of all cancers, the adenocarcinoma is the most frequent histologic, however the epidermoid is uncommon, and has the least survival rate.
Clinical case: We present an unusual histologic gallbladder cancer, epidermoid carcinoma that began with an acute cholecystitis, after performing an early treatment, the patient had a better survival than described.
Discussion: The gallbladder cancer is the most frequent carcinoma of Biliary Tract, it represents only 1% of all cancers, it’s the fifth of all the gastrointestinal tract. The most common cancer is the Adenocarcinoma with an incidence of 83%, following the anaplasias or undetermined cancer with 4 to 7%, and the squamous cells cancer with 0 to 12%. The early diagnostic is a continuous challenge for all surgeons, even if patients develop acute cholecystitis, is an incidental diagnosis the gallbladder cancer.
Conclusion: An uncommon histologic of gallbladder carcinoma, as squamous cell, is a challenge for diagnosis, but in our case, an early diagnosis and sub sequential surgery treatment, increase survival.
