ABSTRACT
Introduction: mortality because of cerebrovascular diseases worldwide continues being a Health problem. There is a direct influence in hypertension, diabetes mellitus, cholesterol increasing among other risk factors, as well as the impact of e multiple nosology entities such as pulmonary thromboembolism and bronchopneumonia, that influence in the prognosis of the patient.Objective: to characterize epidemiologically the deceased people older than 60 years old because of cerebrovascular diseases in Mayabeque.
Method: A descriptive, transversal study was carried out, in 1818 with patients who died of cerebrovascular diseases in Mayabeque, from January 1st, 2011 to December 31st, 2016. The proportion variant was analyzed (Chi X square) to determine significant differences to P<0,05 (Duncan 1955).
Results: the 42,3% the deceased patients were included from 81 to 90 years old, and the female sex was affected in the 55,0% of the cases. The time when most of the patients died was between 4:00 to 8: 00 hours and represented the 18,8%. Ischemic cerebrovascular disease, was presented in the 89,3 %. The 79,7% of the deaths was in Primary Health Care.
Conclusions: the highest number of patients died of cerebrovascular diseases in patients older than 80 years old and female sex. The highest quantity of deceases was in the morning. Brain ischemic infarcts prevailed. The highest number of patients died in Primary Health Care.
