ABSTRACT
Introduction: It is important that the residents general integral medicine show their abilities in the interpretation of electrocardiograms, because cardiovascular diseases prevail in the population. Objective: to show the level of knowledge that residents in general integral medicine have related to electrocardiography after receiving a training course.
Methods: it is a cuasy experimental analytic study, of educative intervention, with 25 residents of general integral medicine from “Marta Martinez” teaching policlinic, in Güines; from November, 1st, 2017 to January 31st, 2018. The information was obtained by a test questionnaire applied to the residents before and after a course of basic electrocardiography. An analysis of mean comparisons and about the variants of the average marks between the groups was performed. Alfa signification level of 0.05 with interval of confidence of 95 % was established.
Results: Second year residents of the male sex prevailed. All the evaluated physicians increased their marks after the training course. The male residents of first year obtained the best results in the first and second test. The themes about normal electrocardiography auricular growing signs showed the highest results, manifestations of blocking of the branch of His bundle had the lowest results.
Conclusion: although there were differences in the acquisition of knowledge about basic electrocardiography in general integral medicine residents, they increased their level after the training course..
