ABSTRACT
Objective: determining muscular strength of superior members in elderly of the Policlinics Heroes’ of the Moncada. 2011-2014.Material and Method: a descriptive and cross-section investigation in 422 bigger adults of the Policlinics Héroes of the Moncada in the period understood of May 2011 to May 2014 developed. Muscular strength of superior members through dynamometry in both hands was determined.
Results: halfway the force of grasp went from FMM (20,47kg) and muscular force in dominant hand FMMD (19,04kg), the feminine sex, the age among 70 prevailed at 79, independent for the Basic and Orchestrated Activities of the Daily Life, hand grip strength it was below the considered normal values in other populations mature adults for both sexes and those of more age had worse results. A relations hip exists statistically significant between the muscular force of both extremities and some studied variables.
Conclusions: develop national investigations of the handgrip strength in elderly population to establish comparisons between both sexes, and this it constitutes a marker that is related with the functional deterioration and the comorbility.
