ABSTRACT
In ALAPAC/ML, the Latin American Association of Clinical Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, is committed to collaborate with the quality improvement of the Latin American clinical laboratories. The PROMECAL 2013:001 Guide is a free academic exercise for clinical laboratory clinicians of Latin America that was developed without profit, with the sole purpose of improving the integral quality of the clinical laboratories. The PROMECAL 2013:001 Guide is voluntary observance by the professionals and technicians involved in the organization and operation of the clinical laboratories. The training of laboratory professionals in Latin America is carried out through the use of the tools that are available free of charge in two portals that are available on the Internet: www.alapacml.net; www.qualitat.cc In order to evaluate the impact of PROMECAL, we carried out a retrospective, observational and descriptive exercise in which the statistics of the use of the two websites are reviewed to evaluate the participation of the professionals of the Latin American clinical laboratories through the quantification of the download and use of the Certificate for the Internal Audit of the PROMECAL Guide 2013:001 in addition to the participation in the exercises of medical relevance including clinical cases, medical microscopy and multiple choice exercises in which the pre-analytical stage is emphasized and post-analysis through the indication of studies and the interpretation of results respectively. In the websites of the Latin American Association of Clinical Pathology participation has been recorded from 14 Latin American countries including Mexico, Bolivia, Peru, Brazil, Cuba, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Uruguay, Argentina, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Honduras y Paraguay. The percentage utilization of the available tools represents: exercises microscopy 41%, clinical cases 31%, exercises of multiple option 24% and audit formats 3% which in sum will represent for the year 2018 a total of 12,492 visits to 22,788 pages and 91,313 documents downloaded. The statistics presented are clear evidence of the impact of information technology on the evolution of systems through the increase of efficiency and effectiveness.REFERENCES
