ABSTRACT
Introduction: The Bolton’s analysis consists on an analysis of the anterior proportion, designed to identify incompatibilities in the anterior teeth, or the proportion of the total teething. These ideal proportions offered by the Bolton’s analysis don't take into account extrinsic factors such as the racial and ethnical variations existent in our population which can affect this proportions. Objective: To determine the Bolton’s Anterior Index in 9th grade students with normal occlusion.
Material and Methods: An observational descriptive and cross-sectional study was performed. The universe of study was constituted by 53 students of both sexes with normal occlusion to who were measured the mesiodistal diameter of the anterior teeth sector. A sample of 35 individuals was selected using asimple random method.
Results: In the studied adolescents it was appreciated thatthe discrepancy prevails in favor of anterosuperior teeth with bigger proportions than the anteroinferor teeth.
Conclusions: The students with normal occlusion presents in general way a discrepancy in favor of anterosuperior teeth and this discrepancy is more presented in the masculine sex than the one presented by the feminine sex.
