Community projects and their influence on the quality of life of the elderly

ABSTRACT
Introduction: population aging is an area under discussion worldwide. Cuba is among the countries with the most aging population, so special attention is paid to this group of old people or also known as the elderly. The work of cultural managers with their particular projects to increase the quality of life of this population group is unknown.Objective: to promote the activities carried out by cultural managers in the community socio-cultural projects to increase the quality of life of the population and in particular of the elderly.
Method: a documentary review of the community socio-cultural projects was carried out in Pinar del Río municipality.
Results: the range of activities developed was observed in local projects, the change and social transformation that has led to the insertion of activities of physical exercise, crafts, and other actions in intergenerational works with predominance of old people in neighborhoods or people’s councils and the effectiveness in improving the quality of life of their communities.
Conclusions: the integration of the elderly in the activities carried out by the community socio-cultural projects has been remarkable, with cultural managers, who are the link in this process.
