Social scientific and academic networks. Experiences. Their impact on the visibility of occupational health

ABSTRACT
Introduction: The social networks constitute an unavoidable phase in the personal, social and, overalls, professional and academic communication; with their condition of platforms inside the Web 2.0, they originate an authentic revolution in the communication for their speed and transmission immediacy, changing from tool to social phenomenon. Our country, the sector of Health and the thematic of the Occupational Health, cannot be unaware to the scientific progress. Objectives: To demonstrate experiences in the management of the social networks, to express their impact in the visibility of the science and to explain the convenience of registering in several of them. Material and method: Users' profiles were created in ResearchGate, LinkedIn, Academia.edu and Google Scholar, and also a unique digital identifier in ORCID. Were analyzed their particular characteristics, indications for the interaction, forms of incorporating, to share and to access to the information, sequence of the behavior of the individual and collective scientific production visibility, dynamics of their indicators and facilities for interchange with scientific and institutions with kindred interests. Results: There were substantial differences in the operation of the networks, their technical possibilities to obtain the information of the users automatically or incorporated manually by them and in the statistics of visits of profiles, following, readings, appointments and discharge of files. Conclusions: Were demonstrate the benefits of the incursion in the social academic networks, their impact in the visibility of the scientific production and the utility of registering in several and interacting among them.
