Burnout Syndrome prevalence in nursing staff in Mexico

ABSTRACT
Objective: To describe the prevalence of Burnout Syndrome and sociodemographic data of nursing staff in Mexico. Material and method: Quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional study, with a convenience sample of 248 nurses in 15 hospitals in Mexico, with an analysis of frequencies. Results: A prevalence of Burnout Syndrome was found in 91 % of nurses, of whom 67 % had 2 dimensions burned and 33 % had one dimension, 77 % of whom were women and 23 % were men. Discussion: There were similarities with Caceres sutdy in prevalence of burnout, as well as with the sex distribution with Secretary of Health, Arias and Castro, Miranda and Sanjuan, and there were differences with studies of Miranda, Acevedo and Navarro.
