ABSTRACT
Introduction: Currently there is a trend, in contemporary curricular theories, the introduction of information technology and telecommunications as a vital support to solve professional problems more quickly and accurately. The use of Information and Communication Technologies has contributed to further promote teaching methods and media with the provision of all information resources in the most pleasant, instructive and interactive way that favors the integration of knowledge in the educational process and teaching-learning. Objective: To argue the importance of the use of Information and Communication Technologies as support for the teaching-learning process. Methods: of the theoretical level; Historical-logical, Analysis and Synthesis, Inductive-Deductive, Systematization, Review of printed and digital literature and Documentary Analysis. Development: Cuban higher education and medical education in particular, develop an arduous task so that educational work is systematic, comprehensive and includes its main dimensions in professional training: curricular, university extension and socio-political. For the educational work from the curricular dimension, the essence of the problem lies in evaluating, how each subject contributes to the educational purposes, and that in its integration arise the new qualities that have been foreseen in its objectives. Undoubtedly, Information and Communication Technologies are support for educational processes by performing vital information functions and acquiring knowledge on any subject. Conclusions: The use of Information and Communication Technologies in the formation of higher education provides multiple advantages in improving teaching quality, since it allows access from remote areas, flexibility in time and space for the development of the teaching process learning.
