Strategic planning in 34 centers of family health of Chile

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Strategic Planning is a very useful organizational management and change tool for health managers. Objectives: Carry out a comparative analysis of the Strategic Planning of 34 Family Health Centers in the country and disseminate their results. Method: This is an action research of a qualitative and quantitative nature. The methodology used was a participatory group through which the Vision of the Future, The Mission, the SWOT and the Strategic Objectives of each Family Health Center were obtained. Results: The main visions analyzed are of the organizational scope, highlighting aspects of Human Resources, technology, management and infrastructure. In the mission, the main projected scope was the assistance one, reflected in the concepts of integrality and life cycle, resolutivity, biopsychosocial approach and preventive focus of the workers. In the analysis of Strengths, Opportunities, Weaknesses and Threats, the most important strengths are of the organizational scope related to human resources. The weaknesses are also related to the organizational scope in aspects of human resources and management. The opportunities are also related to the organizational environment. The threats are related to the Ministry of Health of the country, Health Services, the community and the management of the municipalities. The most relevant strategic objectives are in the area of Human Resources, attention with family focus, community work, management, leadership, and teamwork. Conclusions: The most important area for workers of Family Health Centers is the organizational one, which demands strategic improvements in Human Resources, training, infrastructure, leadership, management, team work, among others.
