ABSTRACT
Autoimmune hemolytic anemia is characterized by alterations in
the peripheral blood smear with presence of spherocytes, schistocytes,
elliptocytes, acanthocytes and target cells. We describe the
case of a patient with autoimmune hemolytic anemia who developed
septic shock secondary to infection by Aeromonas hydrophila
and alterations in the peripheral blood smear.
