ABSTRACT
Clinical gerontological care is a current challenge for the care units in the first level of healthcare, since the population pyramid has been reversed, and the population of senior adults is increasing, this age group being the one that make health services most effective. A transdiscipline that is responsible for the study of the aging process and old age, in order to improve the quality of life of older adults, through comprehensive care, research and the formulation of public policies for the benefit of active and healthy aging: it is called gerontology. That is why, the purpose of this communication is to inform about the importance of the clinical gerontological care from an implemented proposal of attention, from a gerontological approach. That allows to identify the health needs of the senescent population and, therefore, propose strategies of intervention and attention that allow them to have better quality of life. Clinical gerontological care will improve the quality of life of older adults, their family dynamics and social relationships, in addition to dignifying their lives.
