ABSTRACT
Kaposi’s sarcoma is a rare multifocal tumor, caused by multiple
cell types, mostly endothelial cells, which presents cutaneous
and extracutaneous manifestations. At present, been associated
with the presence of herpes virus 8 (hv-8), which through various
carcinogenic mechanisms, induce mutation and disorderly
proliferation of endothelial cells, thereby generating the clinical
picture, which can present four Kaposi’s sarcoma nosological
varieties: classic, endemic, epidemic (associated with hiv) and
iatrogenic. The diagnosis is made by clinical suspicion and the
corresponding histopathology. Treatment usually goes hand to
hand with clinical presentation, bodily area affected, visceral involvement
and associated functional disorders.
