ABSTRACT
Introduction: The “Instituto Nacional de Neurología y Neurocirugía” (INNN) of Mexico was founded in 1964 and almost since its inception has contributed to the publication of a journal whose title has been modified over the years, until called Archivos of Neurociencias in 1996. The journal has been published uninterruptedly since 1986 and addresses issues related to health in neurological and psychiatric sciences. Objective: To describe the scope of the journal Archivos de Neurociencias in the period 1999-2016, based on the geographic origin of their received contributions.
Methods: A retrospective scientometric study was carried out, all the articles published in the journal from 1999 to 2016 registered in Scopus were reviewed. Articles were classified according to affiliation addresses of their authors in different cities, countries and continents.
Results: A total of 669 articles were analyzed, 830 (100%) different adscription addresses were found, without repeating the same country, city or institution per article; 112 (13.4%) international addresses were located in 24 countries apart from Mexico, and 135 (16.2 %) in national territories, apart from Mexico City. The rest of the addresses were found within Mexico City, including those of the INNN.
Conclusions: The relevance of the journal has been such that, despite not having an impact factor, it has received at least one publication from each continent, the higher the quality of the papers published in it, the greater its impact in the future.
