ABSTRACT
Introduction: Historically, the teaching - learning process of Mathematics has faced some difficulties because many students fail to achieve the objectives set in the courses. This situation worsens in the students of the Health Information Systems career with the subject Geometry due to its abstract nature. That is why the teaching of Mathematics is in a process of renewing its approaches, which aims for students to acquire a scientific conception of the world and an integral culture in order to be useful, sensitive and responsible while dealing with social, scientific and technological problems. Objective: To design a Methodological strategy for the development of the Teaching-Learning Process of Geometry in the Health Information Systems career. Material and Method: The population consisted of 41 students of Health Information Systems career, to whom a Diagnostic Test was applied at the beginning of the course and based on these results, an Experimental and Control Group were formed. Besides an interview to the teachers of Mathematics was done. The independent variable was the use of the GeoGebra Software in the Geometry classes and the dependent variable was the teaching results of the students in the tests. Results: The use of the Software in the classes increased the interest and the motivation of the students and it also elevated the capacity of work and their participation in class as well. Conclusions: The experience presented in this paper shows how these deficiencies can be reduced if the learning of Geometry is developed using the GeoGebra Mathematical Assistant.
