ABSTRACT
Eosinoplhilic esophagitis (EoE) is a chronic antigenmediated immune disease of the esophagus characterized by symptoms related to esophageal dysfunction, as well as significant esophageal eosinophilia.(1,2,3)It affects young men with long-standing dysphagia, recurrent food impactations and a frequent history of allergies, asthma or periphereal eosinophilia(2,3) Symptoms in EoE vary with age, as they relate to the progression of the disease from an inflammatory to a fibrostenotic phenotype over time. Prevalence reported to be similar in children and adults ~0.5-1 cases /1000 persons(1) Male sex has 3:1 preponderance, predominantly affects white men, with an onset from school age to midlife.(3) Histologically ≥15 eosinophils in at least one microscopy high-power field on esophageal biopsy specimen after a proton pump inhibitor trial is consistent with the diagnosis of EoE in the proper clinical setting.(4,6,7)We report the case of a male patient, 27 y.o., who presents multiple anaphylaxis, allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis, seborrheic dermatitis and dysphagia; with family history of gluten allergies and multiple allergic reaction.REFERENCES
