ABSTRACT
Introduction: Despite improvements in the treatment of acute myocardial infarction in Cuba, this disease still has a high morbidity and mortality. In order to draw up intervention strategies at the national level, it is necessary to create a registry that allows storing, organizing and manipulating data in a homogeneous manner throughout the country.Objetives: To implement the registry of acute myocardial infarction ¨RECUIMA¨ in Cuba at the period between 2018 to 2020.
Methods: A prospective, longitudinal and multicentre research-development project will be carried out, by stages, with the purpose of implementing the Cuban registry of acute myocardial infarction. The data collection will be from January 2018. The universe of study will be the cuban patients who will admit with acute coronary syndrome and the study sample, the cuban patients over 18 years of age who will admit with a confirmed diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction, in any of its variants, to which the variables of the study can be collected.
Results: The methodological bases are established for the design and implementation of a registry that constitutes a database management system on the clinical, epidemiological characteristics, treatments used, and hospital and month evolution of patients with acute myocardial infarction treated in the country. The proposals for variables to be included in the registry are grouped into four main groups: general data, antecedents, acute coronary event, follow-up to the month after discharge. The main quality indicators of the care process of patients with acute myocardial infarction are defined to be taken into account in the first stage of the data collection as well as the proposed chronogram for the validation of the proposal, with the gradual incorporation of the units coronaries of the country and the rest of the MINSAP health care units that treat patients with heart attacks in Cuba.
Conclusions: The methodological bases for the design and implementation of the Cuban registry of acute myocardial infarction (RECUIMA) are established.
