Lesions of the oral mucosa in rehabilitated patients with total removable acrilic dental prostheses

ABSTRACT
Introduction: many patients go to a dental prostheses consultation complaining of lesions of the oral mucosa because of disorders in the, damaged prostheses more tan five years of continuous use after the instalation.Objectives: to characterize the causes that produce lesions in the oral mucosa in patients who have total removable acrilic dental prostheses.
Method: an observational, descriptive and transversal study was carried out from January, 2013 to March, 2016. 91 patientes who went to dental prostheses and maxilofacial surgery consultation at “Aleida Fernández Chardiet” teaching General Hospital with lesions of the oral mucosa were evaluated. The information was collected in a form elaborated forthat reason and processed with the application of the program Microsoft Excel 2013.
Results: according to the clinical and hystomorpholgic diagnosis; the lesions that prevailed were stomatitis, subprostheses grade I, traumatic ulcer and fisured epulis. He anatomoclinic erithematose form was present in the highest number of patients; the time of use of the prostheses was from 11 to 20 years and in a continuos form.
