ABSTRACT
Hereditary angioedema is an uncommon genetic disorder characterized by recurrent episodes of benign disfiguring skin edema, acute abdominal pain, as well as, a laryngospasm with an imminent risk of death. Stress, climate changes, infections, traumas and pain have been considered triggered factors, and that is why to relieve labor pain could improve its diagnosis. We present the first pregnant patient with this diagnosis seen at “Mariana Grajales” Gynecology and Obstetrics University Hospital, who had induced labor at 34.3 weeks of gestation due to a severe preeclampsia with fetal death. Epidural analgesia was used during labor, in conjunction with the background treatment, to relieve pain, reduce stress and avoid the occurrence of a crisis. Labor and delivery occurred without any difficulty and the patient evolved favourably.
