ABSTRACT
Vesical hernia involves the passage of part of the bladder through a hernial orifice. Despite
the high incidence of inguinal hernial pathology in the general population, it is estimated
that the bladder is involved in only 1-3% of inguinal hernias. It is a pathology which
more frequently affects men (70%) from the fifth decade of life. We present the case of a
male patient, age 80 years, with history of stage IV prostatic hyperplasia with diagnosis of
right inguinoscrotal hernia, who reported needing to apply manual compression to urinate
and alleviate urgency (Mery sign). Herniation of the bladder was confirmed by ultrasound
and computed tomography.
