ABSTRACT
Purpose: To determine if there is a difference in the axial length measurements in high myopic eyes with and without phakic lens implant (PRL).Method: We measured the axial length in 21 phakic eyes with ultrasound using the immersion technique and compared them with the axial length measurement post implantation of the phakic lens PRL, and made the statistic analysis.
Results: 21 eyes with more than –10.00 diopters were measured. Variability was 0.1271 ± 0.1333 mm. The axial length measurement preoperative was 28.97 ± 1.87 mm and postoperative was 29.40 ±1.71.
Conclusion: Preoperative and postoperative measurements are different and are statistically significant; therefore we have to compensate the axial length measurement in high myopic eyes with phakic lens implant. So we propose a formula for these biphakic eyes.
