ABSTRACT
Background: Rhinogenic headache has been widely described and associated with mucosal contacts. In 1908 what is known as Sluder’s syndrome was described.
Objective: To define the incidence of rhinogenic headache, according to the type of septal deviation present in nasal and sinus computed tomography (CT) scans.
Material and methods: We made a retrospective, observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study. Nasal and sinus CT scans and medical records of 100 patients with septal deviation were reviewed and correlated with the presence or absence of headache.
Results: We studied 100 patients, finding a higher prevalence of type 3 (19%). Headache was identified in 39% of the patients. We observed a higher frequency of headache in type 5, which was statistically significant.
Conclusions: Statistical significance was identified with respect to the type of septal deviation and the presence of headache.
