ABSTRACT
Background: the management of adequate learning strategies is an essential factor for a meaningful and developing learning of university students. Objective: to design a didactic manual on learning strategies for the study of the contents of the subject Philosophy and Society I.
Methods: a developing research was carried out within the qualitative approach, in the Medicine career, in "Lidia Doce Sánchez" Medical Sciences University Site of Sagua la Grande, from January 2015 to June 2016. Theoretical methods were used: analytical-synthetic, inductive-deductive, historical-logical and modeling; empirical: survey in the form of questionnaire and observation; and mathematical ones, for absolute and relative values.
Results: most of the surveyed students reported not having knowledge about the learning strategies and their application; the most used are repetition, summaries and underlining or shading of the contents; only few of them mention schemas and conceptual maps. Based on the difficulties detected, a didactic manual was designed as a bibliographic support on the subject.
Conclusions: the elaborated manual includes 59 learning strategies for the study of the contents of the subject Philosophy and Society I. It was valued by the specialists as pertinent, feasible to use and with adequate scientific-methodological quality.
