ABSTRACT
Crime and violence obstruct growth and progress because they erode the development of human resources, destroy social capital, and consume government resources that could be used for other purposes. Homicide is, in every sense, the extreme form of violence, considered as a complex behavior, biologically sustained in the physiological correlates of aggressiveness and expressed behaviorally from the interaction of that aggressiveness and the cultural environment. In order to base the theoretical bases of the criminological prevention of homicide, a search strategy was proposed in the research that focuses on the perfection of knowledge about prevention. A bibliographic review was done from digital sources in national and international printed literature. The bibliographic review provided current knowledge on the historical and current antecedents of homicide prevention at the international level in Cuba, characterizing this from the criminological point of view, being very useful for the agents and agencies involved in confronting it, are better prepared for the identification of the risk in populations vulnerable to die because of this type of violent event.
