ABSTRACT
Introduction: Complaints arising from the perception of poor medical care is a problem that affects different areas of society, so our goal is to identify some causes of poor perception of the doctor, patient and medical care from social representations.Material and Methods: mixed, transversal descriptive study, a questionnaire word association to a population of 28 students of the Faculty of Medicine UNAM and 33 patients applied qualitatively analyzed in semantic fields ranges importance, quantitatively a sample was used 93 students of the same faculty, analyzing it with the theory of hypothesis testing, chi-square values and percentages with SPSS-22.
Results: Quantitatively found that having a medical family influences the perception that physicians and health care with a significance level of 0.5 and the value of greater than 22.36 square Chi, Also the gender influences in that perception, with a level of significance of 0.05 and with the value of the Chi square superior to 18.31. Qualitative differences in social representations of doctors and patients met both your expectations and your experiences.
Conclusion: One of the main causes that create problems in the health-disease process and the doctor-patient relationship are physical, psychological and social components that are subject to both the patient and the doctor and are not taken into account, generating towards them unrealistic expectations over physicians and medical care.
