ABSTRACT
The Juvenile Nasoangiofibroma (JNA), also known as Nasopharyngeal Angiofibroma, juvenile fibroma, angiofibroma or nasopharyngeal hemangioma, it´s the most frequent benign tumor originated on the nasopharynx, it constitutes less than the 0.05% of all tumors of head and neck reported into the available medical literature. Its incidence practically aims to him at being exclusive of men in ages next to the puberty. In relation to their etiology multiple causes have been suggested; however, no one has been accepted. Around the world many cases are reported, despite this, only a few authors publish big samples. This represents, in the theoretical scope, a problem at the time of trying to make an analysis of its real incidence. Basing us in the available data, we can affi rm that it appears with more frequency in Asian countries that in their European or African homologous; however, in America, particularly in Mexico, it has been described with particular frequency. The supposed "inherited" susceptibility of the old settlers of America (amerindians) from their remote Asian ancestors that, in theory, migrated from Asia and crossed the Bering Strait to settle in our continent 30,000 years ago. The greater frequency of this pathology appears in individuals with O and Rh positive blood types, considering this like a racial marker.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
28 Clinical files with diagnosis of JNA were analyzed, corroborated by histopathology.
RESULTS
All the patients were male between 10 and 20 years old, all original of Mexico and 92% of such had O Rh positive blood type.
CONCLUSION
The Juvenile Nasoangiofibroma is very frequent in America, particularly in Mexico; most of the patients exhibit O Rh positive blood type. All the affected patients are men with ages around the puberty.
