ABSTRACT
Preeclampsia-eclampsia remains a major cause of worldwide pregnancy
related maternal mortality. Several hypothesis have been
developed to explain its presentation and development, as well as
various molecular basis proposed which includes alterations in the
placenta implantation and imbalance in the function of certain
molecules such as relaxin, matrix metalloproteinases, endothelin,
nitric oxide, angiogenic factors, oxidative stress, endothelial dysfunction
and genetic factors. The aim of this study was to review
current concepts related to the molecular basis of preeclampsiaeclampsia
