ABSTRACT
Introduction: cardiopulmonary resuscitation is the set of standardized guidelines for sequential development, aimed, first, to replace and then restore breathing and circulation.Objective: to assess the level of knowledge about pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation that specialists and residents of Anesthesiology and Resuscitation have in the province of Villa Clara.
Method: a cross-sectional descriptive trial was carried out about the level of knowledge that specialists and residents have on pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation. A questionnaire was designed and applied for the collection of data.
Results: it was questioned the 65.07 %, represented by 82 doctors from a total of 126, a 63.41 % of specialists and 36.58 % of residents who had an evaluation of acceptable, moderately acceptable and unacceptable in the different topics which were basic and advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The unacceptable marks were in basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation 64.63 %, advanced 69.51 % and total 75.60 %.
Conclusions: the level of knowledge on basic, advanced and global cardiopulmonary resuscitation in pediatric stage that the specialists and residents have about was unacceptable. The unsatisfactory results were similar in anesthesiologists belonging to hospitals with pediatric care and those located in hospitals without this type of care.
