ABSTRACT
Introduction: the benefits of noninvasive mechanical ventilation in patients with acute lung oedema are well demonstrated.Objective: to evaluate the effectiveness of artificial noninvasive ventilation in patients with acute pulmonary oedema.
Method: an observational, descriptive and longitudinal study was conducted in EICU in "Saturnino Lora" Teaching Hospital, Santiago of Cuba in the period from March 2010 to January 2011. The universe was comprised of 77 patients with acute lung oedema, selected in a non-probabilistic criteria expert, taking into account the inclusion criteria Latin American Ibero Group Mechanical Ventilation Non-invasive.
Results: the effectiveness of the technique in clinical improvement and hemogasometric of patients with acute pulmonary edema was shown.
