Considerations about the discipline Family Medicine by students and specialists from a polyclinic

ABSTRACT
Introduction: The discipline Family Medicine constitutes an ascending dialectical spiral within the scope of medical sciences, allowing the training advisorship for students and health professionals.Objective: To describe some considerations about the discipline Family Medicine by students and specialists belonging to a health area.
Methods: A descriptive research was carried out at Pedro Borrás Astorga University Polyclinic in Pinar del Río, from January to March 2017. The universe consisted of 123 Family Medicine specialists and 285 students at their first two years of the medical major and belonging to this institution. The sample was randomly chosen using the simple randomization method and consisted of 80 professionals and 150 students. In addition, theoretical and empirical methods were used.
Results: The research was developed in three sections: teaching-research characterization of the institution; training of professionals through the discipline Family Medicine, and results of evaluation-suggestion surveys regarding the discipline Family Medicine. The institution was characterized by a qualified teaching-research faculty, while the discipline Family Medicine has contributed to the training of thousands of health professionals for more than 20 years, and evaluations and suggestions by students and specialists of the institution.
Conclusions: The discipline Family Medicine permitted to evaluate its impact in the training of professionals of excellence, while also guaranteeing a futuristic medical mark of superior quality.
