Menopause and physical activity: a manual for physical-educational care

ABSTRACT
Introduction: One of most worrisome stages for Ecuadorian women is related to menopause, precisely because of changes in the biopsychological and social order, and the aftermath of a very diverse and multicultural society, which still fails to move the myths in general and taboos around this period of life. This is compounded by existing limitations in lack of preparation programs to promote the orientation and education women in relation to the field investigated. Objective: To offer a process of physical educational care for women in the menopausal stage, through the conception of a manual containing activities and orientations from physical activity. Methods: Based on a mixed research study, using theoretical and empirical methods. We study 25 women living in the Milan residential area, Guayaquil, with the participation of a researcher's team and experts from the Physical Culture, Medicine, Education and Social Sciences, for which 25 experts were surveyed. Results: With the validation performed by a experts group (0,86), a Manual for comprehensive physical-educational care of menopausal women was achieved, with a significant impact on preparation of women group who participated in the project, for Improvement of their life quality. Conclusions: It was possible to influence positively in the physical-educational attention of women in this phase of its life, obtaining a high index of acceptance through the expert's consultation.
